
Sawadekap! My husband and I were supposed to go to Bangkok this week but due to the travel restrictions and of course, for our own safety, our lovely trip as cancelled. So I decided to make tribute to make a tribute to our dead itinerary with this amazing yet simple dish! I found this amazing video online and a few articles on Thai Basil Beef recipe. Ingredients for Pad Ka Prao
- 5 chili padi, thinly sliced
- 5 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 big chili red, sliced
Step 1: Heat pan with oil and stir the above ingredients up.
- 1 tbs light soy sauce
- 2 tsp fish sauce
- 1 tbs oyster sauce
- 1 tbs dark soy sauce
- 2 tbs water
- 1 tsp sugar
Step 2: In a separate bowl, mix all sauces above together.
- 300g minced beef, marinated with 1/2 tbs: water, soy sauce, salt and pepper and 1tsp cornstarch
Step 3: Add beef in the pan. Stir.
- 1/2 cup long/french beans, cut into inch thick
Step 4: Once beef almost cooked, lower the heat and add in the beans.
- 1.5 cup of thai basil/ holy basil
Step 5: Turn off heat. Add basil. Stir.
Step 6: Deep fry your egg aka Thai Fried Egg. Dont flip your egg, just slowly shower it with the hot oil using the ladle. You can choose it to be runny.
- 1 egg, per dish
Step 7: Serve the Thai basil beef with white rice and the Thai fried egg. Eat while it’s hot! Khub khun!
